Does a laptop battery explode if it gets too hot?

Hello, may I know if laptop batteries simply leak or if they explode when they get too hot?

It is possible, yes, and a laptop battery may explode when it becomes too hot, particularly when it is damaged or when it is charged and/or when exposed to high heat. Thermal runaway can cause lithium-ion batteries to swell, leak or ignite. Never cover or plug vents, use spoiled batteries, or use your laptop in the direct sunlight.
